Professor green website analysis

Music iconography

Looking at how these media used iconogaphy, i discovered that most of these UK Hip Hop artists tend to use a lot of futuristic/graffiti fonts in there designs whilst centering the colours around purple and sort of typical neon like colours. This is shown by artists like Tinchy Stryder and Tinie Tempah as they tend to use those sort of neon colours. I believe this is done to provide the feeling that they are actually for rave/dance genres as their style of music does cross in to the genre of dance. Therefore, there are iconographical links between genres through colour.

I found these specific colours and fonts very interesting for my artist as they each provide there own feel to it and all could be used whilst providing a totally different effect. Such as pink could be used for him as it is mostly associated with pop and would go well if we were marketing it at girls because of well known stereotypes.

benefits and risks of using the internet for promotion

Benefits-
the internet allows the artist(s) to tap into a more diverse fanbase, it increases their knowledge of the band, allows the band to increase popularity and allows iconographical links to be made with in your promotion and finally allows viral promotion.

Risks-
there is a risk of hackers defacing and ruining the promotion, there are risk of malfunction such as the McFly super city site and misinterpretation of the band (possibly by anonymous people reconstructing the image of the artist.

Audience research results

From our Research we discovered 71 % of our feedback was from peopple who liked the genres of professor green and we also from that discovered More of the females (43% to be exact) preferred his music whilst a smalle 22% of males liked his music. But most of the boys that liked his music also like violent action films. however due to our survey being flawed in the sense that there are more females that took the survey i have used my exsisting knowledge of Pro Green's fan base i would go against my survey and argue that men would prefer his music because of the content of this particular song(pro green- jungle)

Conventions of a typical web page

There are many conventions within a typical web page and each convention provides there own function. One convention would be images as this to to engage and help the audience identify the page content. You also have copy which is mainly to inform the audience. Logos are key for providing ideology. Hyperlinks allows the audience to have access to more information. Layouts and house styles provides structure which could also provide room for ideology.

Specific Music Research

As part of my development towards creating this music video i was required to do some specific research to my genre. Below is my analysis of a music video by Wiley entitled Never be your woman. I chose this artist as he was someone who i found really relatable to my chosen Artist(Pro Green)as they both do mainstream UK Hip-hop.

Introduction

Today we were assigned our groups and began discussing the conventions of music videos and how some of our more personally memorable films used those conventions. We discussed what we liked about the films and began talking about the 3 main types of music videos (Narrative, Performance, Abstract). Once we had finished discussing how these music video types related to our chosen music videos we then began research. I looked at Plan B- Prayin' and whilst looking carefully at the video and previous music videos he's made i discovered that his films are actually a mixture of all 3 types of music video. his music videos always have some sort of narrative for example prayin' is about him being sent to prison and we watch his story from when he enters till when the whole prison attempt to escape. he also does elements of performance as he is in his prison cell singing to himself and also has the abstract element linking into the performance when they start dancing which breaks the conventions of realistic narrative however it also relates to the the narrative. i also researched Drake- Miss me. This song is mainly performance based but has elements of abstract. The video sees Drake majority of the time performing the song but has loads of quick shots of things that don't relate to the song for example the beginning starts with time remapping of drake having thrown a bottle at a wall and it also shows occasional shots of a woman dancing although it has no relation to the song whatsoever.
